- Abstract
- The research interest of this Master’s thesis is public librarians’ work life. The purpose of the essay is to examine public librarians’ experiences of work enjoyment, their valuations of work enjoyment and work motivation factors, respectively. The research was done through a web-based survey that was mediated via the e-mailing list “Biblist” that reaches the majority of Sweden’s librarians. The questions in the quantitative survey were based on both theories of work enjoyment and the motivation theory of Hierarchy Two Factor Theory. 113 librarians participated in the study. The motivation factors that the public librarians valued as the most important for them in their work were 1. responsibility, 2. management and 3. the work itself. (Less)
