Abstract
Höllviken is a part of Vellinge county located in the south west of Skåne with about 15 000 inhabitants. The town is expected to grow in the following years and a new residential area is being planned. Public transportation must be available and it has to reach the important destinations to make the area attractive for new residents. Today there is a local bus service, number 152, that runs in a loop within the town. The problem with line 152 is that it does not reach all the key destinations such as Toppengallerian and Räng Sand. Many residents in Höllviken commutes with the regional bus service 100 and 300 towards Malmö and the use of line 152 is mostly to reach the bus stop for bus 100 and 300. The town is expected to grow in the following years and a new residential area is being planned. Public transportation must be available and it has to reach the important destinations to make the area attractive for new residents. Today there is a local bus service, number 152, that runs in a loop within the town. The problem with line 152 is that it does not reach all the key destinations such as Toppengallerian and Räng Sand. Many residents in Höllviken commutes with the regional bus service 100 and 300 towards Malmö and the use of line 152 is mostly to reach the bus stop for bus 100 and 300. The goal with this thesis has been to reach a solution on how public transport in eastern Höllviken should be designed to provide good commuting opportunities, reach key destinations as well as interact with the current bus service. A literature review was conducted to gain knowledge about public transport planning in general. To get a picture of the current situation and how public transport is experienced in Höllviken, two surveys have been carried out, a survey for people using public transportation and one for the bus drivers. Travel statistics from Skånetrafiken and Bergkvarabuss have been analyzed in order to form an idea of today's traveler. All this forms the basis for proposals Ringlinje Medurs, Ringlinje Moturs and Ändpunktslinje on how a new bus route can be planned. A multi-criteria analysis was conducted and resulted in the proposal Ändpunktslinje being recommended on the grounds that the proposal reaches the most key destinations, has the lowest travel time ratio and interact best with the existing traffic system.
