Bookworm - A project on reading and racism

- Abstract
- With a mission to create an antidote to
racism I found that empathy ought to be
more promoted in society. Reading novels
is proven to develop our empathy. In
Swedish schools today the reading ability
has dropped severely over the last 10
years. Among those who hate reading
the most and have the hardest time reading
are young adult boys. By creating a
reading aid that allows young adult boys
to learn how to read faster I hope to promote
the activity of reading novels. The
aid utilises an eye tracker to link an audio
book with a physical book, allowing
the user to see the word while hearing it
read to them. Adding the sense of hearing
to the activity of reading is proven
to speed up the process of learning the

closely with 16-year old boys who hate
