Abstract
Radongas is radioactive and dangerous for the human health. The radiation can cause serious diseases such as lung cancer. "Good built environment" is one of the 16 national environmental goals in Sweden which says that before year 2020 there must be no dwellings with radon concentrations over 200 Bq / m3 air. Radongas is radioactive and dangerous for the human health. The radiation can cause serious diseases such as lung cancer. "Good built environment" is one of the 16 national environmental goals in Sweden which says that before year 2020 there must be no dwellings with radon concentrations over 200 Bq / m3 air. The environmental governance has on several occasions before attempted to identify homes with high levels of radon, but only a few property owners wants to preform the measurements.
The purpose of this study is to identify the apartment buildings in the municipality of Lund that has not yet preformed measurements of radon, sort them into different categories and propose an action plan for the environmental governance to achieve the environmental goal "Good built environment".
In this study, a questionnaire was sent to all owners of apartment buildings in Lund who had not preformed measurements of radon according to the environmental administration radon registers. The result showed that most properties had not performed measurements of the radon level but also did not show any characteristics that increase the risk of high radon levels. A few properties did show these characteristics that increase the risk of having high radon levels. An even smaller proportion of properties had measured radon successfully. Some properties had incomplete measurement protocols, was measuring the radon level at the time, planned to measure the levels of radon or were being sanitized from radon.
The survey also investigated the property owners' attitude to radon where the results showed that more than half of the owners believed that radon is dangerous and should be rectified, but only 37 % ment to take action if it concerned their property. That result, as well as the low response rate shows that great ignorance about the risks of radon prevails among the residents in Lund. The environmental governance need tougher strategies to get property owners to measure radon. This could be performed by sending out more information about radon, various decontamination methods and what legal obligations the owners of the properties have. (Less)

I studien skickades en enkät ut till alla ägare av flerbostadshus i Lund som inte hade mätt radonhalten enligt miljöförvaltningens radonregister. Svarsfrekvensen blev endast 32 % och resultatet visade på att de flesta fastigheter inte hade mätt radonhalten men att fastigheterna heller inte visade sig ha egenskaper som ökade risken för höga radonhalter. En mindre del av fastigheterna visade sig dock ha dessa egenskaper, som ökar risk för radon. En ännu mindre andel hade mätt radon med godkänt resultat. Några fastigheter hade ofullständiga mätningsprotokoll, höll på att mäta halten radon, planerade att mäta radonhalten eller var igång med att sanera huset från radon.
Enkäten undersökte även fastighetsägarnas inställning till radon där resultatet visade att mer än hälften av ägarna ansåg att radon är farligt och bör åtgärdas men endast 37 % tänkte sanera om det angick deras fastighet. Det resultatet samt den låga svarsfrekvensen visar på att stor okunskap råder bland invånarna om hur farligt radon är.
Miljöförvaltningen behöver tuffare strategier för att få fastighetsägare att mäta radon. Det kan innebära att vidta åtgärder som att skicka ut mer information om både radon och olika saneringsmetoder samt information om de juridiska skyldigheter ägarna har. (Less)
