Sex terapeuters kamp mot tröttheten
(2015) PPTR06 20151Department of Psychology
- Abstract
- The thesis is a qualitative study of how therapists experience facing their patients when being tired of their work, due to the increasing workload at our job. Six therapists at a psychiatric open day care center were interviewed. The interviews were rigorously transcribed and we analysed the texts several times, approaching each interview hermeneutically (interpreting) and phenomenologically (describing), trying to understand what happens between the therapist and the patient when the therapist is tired of his or her work. The theory used for this understanding is mainly psychodynamic, using concepts like countertransference, object relations, mentalizing and defence mechanisms. We found elements influencing the therapists coming from... (More)

The theory used for this understanding is mainly psychodynamic, using concepts like countertransference, object relations, mentalizing and defence mechanisms. We found elements influencing the therapists coming from outside the therapy room, like the organization, stress, or having too many assignments, and from within the therapy room, like patients nor responding to therapy or being too dependent on the therapist, and we tried to describe how they interact.
