In my line of duty I meet a lot of people that are victims or witnesses to crimes. Recently I have noticed that a lot of people seem afraid to testify or participate in crime investigations.
My purpose with the essay is to acquire increased knowledge about how police officers within the district of Halland experiences problems regarding undue impact and abuse of judicial procedure when victims and witnesses participate in crime investigations.
The method for the essay is qualitative interviews with four Swedish police officers.
The results show that the police officers in this study don’t see undue impact or abuse of judicial procedure as a problem when they investigate crimes. They believe that most of the victims and witnesses are willing to participate and they find that the crime abuse of judicial procedure is adequate in the Swedish legal system. However they also believe that they see some influences regarding juveniles that don’t want to snitch to the police. The result also shows that one of the biggest factor to why people hesitate to participate is because of fear or created fear that something might happen if they participate.
The conclusion of the essay is that a broader knowledge is accomplished regarding how police officers in the district of Halland expericing problems regarding undue impact and abuse of judicial procedure and that are few problems for victim and witness to participate in crime investigation. This leads to safety for those who contribute to the legal system and the crime investigations rule of law. (Less)
