Social problems are interpreted today as individual problems and the individual is seen as the responsible for its own health and self-development. The interviewees motivated body therapy as a method based on a holistic approach, which advocates that everything interact and affect each other. This approach raises the importance of that every person needs to take responsibility over his or her self-development in order to contribute to a healthy society. With the holistic approach you cannot separate body and mind. Therefore body therapy is motivated by the staff as a complement to traditional counselling and that it gives tools that enables the clients to cope with difficult feelings and thoughts without using drugs. Body therapy, earlier questioned by social authorities, is now an expanding area in social work. (Less)
