Abstract
The New York based artist Scooter LaForge has, until now, never featured in any academic work.
By using the field theory, one of the core concepts by the french sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, this study aims to provide a possible interpretation of which driving forces that has been of importance in positioning Scooter LaForge in the field of cultural production. Bourdieu’s conceptual apparatus, in particular the concepts of field, habitus, cultural-, economic-, symbolic- and social capital, is used throughout the study. Through LaForge’s involvement in both fashion and art he exemplifies a kind of artist that works on the border between two fields that earlier has been considered as non compatible.
