Under four days of fieldwork in the village of Dals Rostock, the candidate student of ethnology Karsten Andersen gathered his empiric material for this paper through interviews with volunteers at the local refugee centre.
The empiric material been analysed using theories concerning how local communities are formed and reformed. The main results are that an emotional narrative focusing on fellowship, closeness and familiarity and empathy gives the inhabitants the tools to focus on the similarities between the old inhabitants and the new.
This paper has five chapters: in the first you find method and theory. Chapter two and three contains the main part of the analysis, with a broadening of the perspective in chapter four: The Hope for Happiness. Finally, in chapter five you find the author’s own conclusions. (Less)
