- Abstract
- This report aims to try to minimize the impact on drinking water from the use of
firefighting foam. This is done through an extensive study of the situation today and the substance PFAS, which has previously contaminated aquifers. PFAS is a substance that can be found in some firefighting foams. After the literature study, ten interviews were conducted with eight fire departments and two municipalities. These interviews showed that there is an understanding of the consequences firefighting foam can cause on aquifers, but that more information, cooperation and education is needed. Because of this some preventive actions are suggested. The conclusion of this report is that more cooperation is needed between the fire departments and the...
