Abstract (Swedish)
Syftet med studien är att undersöka förändringar gällande variablerna: psykiskt välbefinnande, stress, arbetsengagemang och tidsanvändning vid en arbetstidsförkortning från åtta till sex timmars arbetsdag med bibehållen lön. Vidare ämnar studien undersöka de anställdas generella upplevelse av införandet av sex timmars arbetsdag med bibehållen lön. Av 14 tillfrågade på en vårdklinik i en medelstor stad i Sverige deltog 13 personer i studien. Två deltagare avbröt deltagandet. Enkäten bestod av GHQ-12, Vardagslivets stress, UWES-9, samt egenkonstruerade frågor för att mäta tidsanvändning och uppfattning om den införda arbetstidsförkortningen. Vidare ämnar studien undersöka de anställdas generella upplevelse av införandet av sex timmars arbetsdag med bibehållen lön. Av 14 tillfrågade på en vårdklinik i en medelstor stad i Sverige deltog 13 personer i studien. Två deltagare avbröt deltagandet. Resultatet visade att deltagarnas självskattade stress sjönk under perioder av kortare arbetsdagar. Under sex timmars arbetsdagar rapporterade deltagarna sin fritid som mer tillfredsställande samt att de hade en ökad möjlighet att planera sin dag och hade mer tid till sig själva, familj och vänner. Deltagarna beskrev en övervägande positiv upplevelse av att arbeta sex timmars arbetsdagar. Resultatet går i linje med tidigare forskning. Framtida forskning skulle gynnas av större urval, större tidsramar och en tvärvetenskaplig ansats då en arbetstidsförkortning inte endast påverkar individen utan även organisationen och samhället i stort. General employee experience of this change was also examined. Participants were 13 employees at a health clinic located in a medium sized town in Sweden across five occasions within a three month time span (two participants dropped out). The questionnaires used were GHQ-12, Vardagslivets stress, UWES-9, as well as questions to measure time usage and thoughts about reduced working hours. Kasam-29 was also included in the first survey. The results showed a drop in the participants' self-rated stress during periods of shorter work days.... (More)

Furthermore, during six hour work days the participants found their leisure time more satisfying, had more opportunity to plan their day and had more time for themselves, family, and friends. The participants described a mainly positive experience of working six-hour days. The results are consistent with previous research. Further research would benefit from having greater sample sizes, greater time frames and also an interdisciplinary approach since working hours not only affect the individual but also organizations and our society.
