Department of Biomedical Engineering
Abstract
This thesis presents a study of how a 24 GHz radar can be used to measure traffic. The focus is on the software of the radar, highlighting the algorithms used in the radar measurements.
The Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) and Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) algorithms are studied, and the FSK algorithm is also implemented on a test setup with results which show that the radar can be used to measure traffic.
Popular Abstract
Traffic monitoring using radar
With the current evolution of radar, possibilities to use the technology in new ways emerge. In this study, the technology has been evaluated as a method of measuring traffic. The implementation is described in detail, and the result is that traffic monitoring is a suited use case for radar, with some limitations.
