Abstract
The purpose of this thesis was about investigating how couples counselors integrate Prevention and Relationship Education Program (PREP) in their professional work, how powerful they find the method and how they perceive their roles as couples counselors and PREP leaders. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine individuals which all worked within municipal couples counseling. The inclusion criterion was that the participants ought to work with PREP in combination with couples counseling. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis and nine themes were identified. The purpose of this thesis was about investigating how couples counselors integrate Prevention and Relationship Education Program (PREP) in their professional work, how powerful they find the method and how they perceive their roles as couples counselors and PREP leaders. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine individuals which all worked within municipal couples counseling. There is a demand of preventive relationship training that’s performed on behalf of municipal couples counseling. The participants find PREP as a useful, solid and a material that’s based on research. The participants mention differences between the therapeutic versus the pedagogic work and suggest the roles for the different tasks to be separated. There are individual differences in how to treat the boundary between therapy and the training program. The therapeutic competence is an important factor to create faithful bonds with the couples in the course, which contributes to achieve a good alliance. One critical aspect handles PREP being perceived as too normative, where participants would like a more sex-neutral material. (Less)

Deltagarna beskriver nivåskillnader i det terapeutiska och det pedagogiska arbetet och separerade roller krävs för de olika uppgifterna. Det finns individuella skillnader i hur man hanterar det professionella gränslandet mellan terapi och utbildningsprogram. Den terapeutiska kompetensen ses som en betydelsefull faktor att skapa förtroendefulla band med de par som deltar i kursen, vilket bidrar till god allians. En kritik som framkommit berör materialet som uppfattas normativt, man vill se ett mer könsneutralt hållet material. (Less)
