Abstract
E-sport is a phenomenon that along with internet has had a fast development in the last decade. A person can stream their gaming today so that other people are able to follow what is happening on the streamer’s computer. This live interaction makes it possible for people all over the world to come together over a common interest, online gaming.
The use of internet also carries negative aspects such as cyberbullying. As recently as 2016 an official report of the Swedish Government regarding criminal law for individuals’ personal privacy was presented. This report contained proposals for new legislation on certain sections of the law. The report was conducted in order to meet with the new possibilities of communication that come with the... (More)

The use of internet also carries negative aspects such as cyberbullying. As recently as 2016 an official report of the Swedish Government regarding criminal law for individuals’ personal privacy was presented. This report contained proposals for new legislation on certain sections of the law. The report was conducted in order to meet with the new possibilities of communication that come with the technical evolution, especially the ones on internet.
This study aims to examine online gaming experiences in Sweden and how they correspond to the recently proposed legislation. This was done by interviewing six Swedish gamers about their experiences regarding gaming climate, streaming and problems experienced within the world of gaming. The analysis was made by applying normtheory on the interview material. The results of the analysis concluded that social gaming norms are operating in favour of the game. Therefore the social norms do not correspond well to the proposed legal norms. The author of this thesis came to the conclusion that a change of the game idea has to be made for the proposed legislation to work. (Less)
