- Abstract
- To ease railway traffic between countries in Europe, EU have decided that a new common signalling system should be implemented. This new signalling system is ERTMS, which is a shortening for European Rail Traffic Management System. Beside to ease traffic between countries, ERTMS can improve the level of safety and increase capacity on the railway network. The implementation of ERTMS amount a major challenge to each member country because it is an unproven system. Each country have different ways to approach the implementation and it is importing to exchange experiences between the countries. This bachelor thesis is on a mission by Sweco Rail, with the purpose to compare the implementation of ERTMS between Sweden and Dutch, since it was clear that Sweco bought the Grontmij group at autumn 2015. This thesis provides an insight in how the countries manage the implementation and following questions have been studied:
• How does the work process for projection ERTMS works in Sweden and Netherland?
• What are the main differences regarding drawings, tools and documentation?
• How have the implementation worked in Sweden and Netherland? The data collection have been received by studying rules, guidelines and regulations in each country, and also by exchange of information with persons involved in ERTMS. This thesis is aimed to people with a fundamental railway technical competence (Less)
