According to the Swedish law every person under 18 years is a child and not allowed to get married. The laws about marriages is very strict when it comes to the age limit but in our research we have noticed that individuals between 15 and 18 years can live in relationships similar to marriage in cohabitation without any age limit. In the material we’ve analyzed that the age limit is based on the ability for individuals younger than 18 years to make mature decisions like getting married. According to developmental psychology every person´s development is highly individual. With reference to this the age limit of 18 years is hard to justify. The developmental psychology highlights that the stage adolescence for many people happens between the ages 13-19. (Less)
