Abstract
The aim of this study has been to highlight individuals own experiences of the recovery process from exhaustion disorder. By taking part of their experiences advancement and obstructive, internal plus external factors that has been decisive for their recovery could be identified. To answer the aim a selection of six autobiographies about recovery from exhaustion disorder was made. A text analysis and coding of the autobiographies did then generate in ten different themes: acceptance, the individuals own urge and own strategies, return to work, friends and family, professionals, sick leave, the recovery rollercoaster, hard to accept the situation, and lacking of support.
