Abstract
Signal is a very important part of the railway. If you place a signal or a different object which is also important in the wrong place, can mean increased safety risks. To ease the work of the consultants in the creation of operational site drawings, the aim is to develop an action plan for the creation of a database, which in turn will be used to create a tool that can be used to automate the process of generating operation site drawings. To ease the work of the consultants in the creation of operational site drawings, the aim is to develop an action plan for the creation of a database, which in turn will be used to create a tool that can be used to automate the process of generating operation site drawings. The work began with a basic literature to get a theoretical foundation. In addition, data has been collected through document studies of Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) directing and supporting documents, in order to using algorithms and calculations to produce the desired data used in the creation of a database model. To create a database that works best with a vision of the tool in the future to create, SQLite is the optimal relational database management system. An important factor when creating a database is that the structure should have a good foundation. During the work it was interesting to see how important the foundation data used in the model database was. In every part of the database model, there was at least a calculation that required foundation data. I think that the work has been instructive, and the questions I had in the beginning, were answered during the thesis.
