(2017) PSPT02 20162Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)

The eleven participants were aged between 16 and 69, with pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis and, rheumatism. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed with qualitative thematic analysis. Pre- and post-measurements were conducted through self-report questionnaires regarding perceived stress, quality of life and, degree of mindfulness, which were compared with non-parametric tests. Qualitative results indicated that dance movement therapy with mindfulness, to some extent, may contribute to an increased awareness regarding the body and thoughts, which can lead to new and improved ways to cope with pain. Pre- and post-measurements of perceived stress showed a significant improvement after completed course. Longstanding pain is one of the most common issues in primary care settings, and would be a suitable unit for implementing dance movement therapy. (Less)
