- Abstract
- This thesis have examined the Region of Skåne, and its work within the EU. The analysis unit in focus is the Skåne European Office, which is the representation office of the region in Brussels. The aim of the thesis has been to examine their lobbying and networking in Brussels. The question asked is: “How does the region of Skåne exercise their lobbying and networking through their office in Brussels, to get their interests satisfied in the EU?” All the officials at the Skåne European Office have been interviewed and the activity plan have also been examined. - This thesis have examined the Region of Skåne, and its work within the EU. The analysis unit in focus is the Skåne European Office, which is the representation office of the region in Brussels. The aim of the thesis has been to examine their lobbying and networking in Brussels. The question asked is: “How does the region of Skåne exercise their lobbying and networking through their office in Brussels, to get their interests satisfied in the EU?” All the officials at the Skåne European Office have been interviewed and the activity plan have also been examined. The results showed that the region is an active member of several different networks and it’s important for it to profile itself as an attractive collaboration partner. Promotion of the region is not only being done towards the EU institutions, but also towards other regions and networks. The region of Skåne is a rather small region in a context as the EU and is therefore not strong enough to act by itself, all of the smaller regions in the EU are somehow dependent of each other. Lobbying and networking plays an important role for the region of Skåne in Brussels, personal contacts included. The results from the interviews were analyzed with the help from chosen theories on lobbying and networking. Altogether the work of Skåne European office bottoms in that it should lead to regional development. (Less)
