Kriminalitetens påverkan på huspriser i Sverige
(2017) NEKH01 20171Department of Economics
- Abstract (Swedish)
- The purpose of this thesis is to examine how different types of crime impact housing prices in Swedish municipalities.
The thesis includes regression analyses of various types of crime’s relation to house prices. In addition, a difference-in-difference analysis of a joint action plan between municipalities and state authorities in Norrbotten County to counter organized crime is made, in order to investigate the causal impact that crime could have on house prices.
This thesis can conclude that there seems to exist a correlation between some types of crime and housing prices in Sweden. It also shows that work against organized crime in rural areas of Sweden can result in both lower crime levels and higher housing prices.
