Abstract
Today’s construction industry has an enormous pressure on its shoulders the request is high and the resources too low. Companies are therefore forced to reduce the time for each project, and as a result important parts for the security of the project don’t get enough time. In a short period of time a lot of things needs to be done, and by this, the risk management and the work with risk analysis don’t get prioritized, because they think that the situation is under control and that all risks are considered. At the same time the construction flaws and accidents increase because of the lack in construction documents. In a short period of time a lot of things needs to be done, and by this, the risk management and the work with risk analysis don’t get prioritized, because they think that the situation is under control and that all risks are considered. At the same time the construction flaws and accidents increase because of the lack in construction documents. Risk analysis should be done through the entire process, to ensure that everything that may affect the project in a negative way are considered, and that action has been taken to prevent it from happening. The risk management should be updated and regularly followed up during the whole construction process. New risks may appear and existing risks can either be reduced or disappear. A continuity in this work is therefore very important. WSP in Helsingborg has noted that their work with risk management lack with insufficient or completely non-existing risk analysis, and this poses a risk for the company. They want to know the reason behind this and what they can do to improve their work.
This report consists mainly of an interview study with constructors from three different offices within the company, but it also includes a big part of literature study. The purpose of this work has been to investigate how the entire process of risk management works in the construction process. What the cause is to the risk analysis to not hold the expected quality, and what contributes to the problems associated with risk management work and how it can be better. The interviews show that the constructors see risk management work as an important part of the work to reduce accidents in the production process, and other faults that arise as a result of their work. At the same time the majority of them do not provide any documentation on risk management or do any risk analysis themselves, and they claim the main reason for this is not enough time. Another major reason indicates ignorance of how to work with it. (Less)
