One finding is that individuals with pedophilia was encouraged and met with positivity when they actively tried to search for help. They were spoken about as respected, brave and strong. Another discourse was that regarding stigma. Attitudes from other members of the forum showed that there is a stigma related to pedophilia which was visible in the healthcare system as well. We could see that individuals recommended not seeking help and instead keeping quiet about the pedophilic issues, as a result as this perceived stigma. Finally we were able to see a hateful discourse where individuals who claimed to have pedophilic disorders were met with hate and spiteful comments. We could also see that they were advised to kill themselves. To conclude, we found different discourses on the forum in regards to the help-seeking for those with pedophilich disorder. (Less)
