- One of the top priorities today in Sweden is to minimize the environmental impact caused from the food production. Swedish municipalities are therefor currently working to influence households to reduce their amount of food waste and increase the source separation. Relatively new statistics from municipalities has shown that the recycling ratio and the quality is significantly higher in single houses than in multiple dwelling. This study shows evidence of the importance of properly managed service work in multiple dwelling, for an efficient food waste collection. Both physical barriers and lack of knowledge has been identified in this study as potential factors influencing household’s food waste behavior. (Less)

För att ta reda på detta genomfördes en fallstudie i två bostadsområden i Landskrona. I det ena bostadsområdet fungerar sorteringen medan i det andra bostadsområdet fungerar sorteringen betydligt sämre. En enkätundersökning och en inspektion i områdenas miljöhus genomförs i denna studien.
Denna studien visar på att det faktiskt finns flera bristfälliga faktorer i flerfamiljshus som kan ha en negativ påverkan på människors källsortering. De uppmärksammades till exempel under inspektionen i miljöhusen att det saknades skyltar eller så var skyltarna felsatta ovanför kärlet för matavfall. Papperspåsar fanns inte heller att tillgå i miljöhuset. Under inspektionen i miljöhuset uppmärksammades även att miljöhuset luktade väldigt illa. Detta påpekades även av respondenterna. Resultatet tyder även på människor antigen är osäkra eller saknar tillräckligt med kunskap om sorteringen.
Tidigare studier har även belyst att brist på utrymme i hemmet och sorteringsutrustning är två vanliga orsaker till felsortering. I denna studien har detta inte gått att fastställa.
Av de 370 enkäter som delades ut valde 39 respondenterna att besvara enkäten. Svarsfrekvensen är väldigt låg men studien har trots detta ändå lyckats bidra med en uppfattning om sorteringsproblemen.
Utifrån studiens resultat har ett antal förbättringsåtgärder föreslagits för att förbättra källsorteringen. För det första behövs de praktiska hinder som har identifierats avlägsnas. Först då kan informationsinsatser användas för att motivera människor och öka människors kunskap om källsorteringen. (Less)
