- May the state go to any lengths to collect taxes? Our taxing system is after all the foundation on which our modern society rests. Thanks to it we have a broad and well functioning infrastructure and a developed social security network. On the other hand we are all humans and as such we have the right to enjoy the protection which comes from our human rights.
What happens then when the state and the individual meet in questions which touch upon both tax law and human rights? One instance when this happens is when an authority attaches a property in order to secure payment for a tax debt, and this property at the same time is functioning as a home for the debtor in question.
