Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The aim of the current study was to examine if a positive psychology intervention (PPI) could lead to an enhanced well-being of students in a Swedish elementary school (grades 1-6). It was also examined if the intervention had different effects in different grades. Questionnaires were administered before and after the intervention. Questions about well-being at school, psychosomatic disorders and bullying together with Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale, Mental Health Continuum Short Form and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire were used. At the experimental school, 122 students (66 girls and 56 boys) participated and at the control school, 96 students (54 girls and 42 boys) participated. The results did not show any significant... The results did not show any significant intervention effects for any variable aiming to measure well-being or different aspects of ill-being. However, significant differences were found between the different grades at the experimental school regarding psychological well-being, social well-being and Mental Health Continuum total, which are regarded as the main results of the current study. The results indicated that older students report lower well-being than younger students. The results were discussed in relation to the need for future health promotion efforts in schools. (Less)
