Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)

What are the opportunities and obstacles for women in healthcare to achieve higher positions? How does Human Resources work to promote women's senior career in health care? Our analysis was based on the experiences and opinions of the interviewees as well as from previous research. The results of the study showed that women choose to advance within health care in terms of interests derived from history, by seeing other women reaching higher positions, as well as women are generally searching for a job within health care. Based on our results, we concluded that women consider themselves having good career opportunities, however that there are some structural barriers such as family life, conservative men, lack of support and motivation. Therefore, it may be more difficult for a woman to advance in a male-dominated organization. (Less)
