The theoretical framework was informed by a gender- and intersectional perspective and the notion of 'claims-making'. The results show that girls in the studied articles are portrayed in different ways depending on the claims in the article, which is usually connected to the portrait of the socially disadvantaged neighborhood and indirectly (or directly) also to groups defined by ethnicity, class or religion. Portraits that were fined consisted of visionaries, victims, good girls and "not like other girls". The portraits were often used in dichotomized relations to boys in the neighborhoods, parents, the neighborhood itself, middleclass and the "swedish". (Less)
