Abstract
This study examined the knowledge and attitude of social workers working with preliminary assessments and investigations regarding children aged 0-20 diagnosed with ADHD. The theoretical framework which has been used to analyze the open questions in our survey are profession theories. 340 social workers in Götaland completed a questionnaire examining their knowledge and attitudes towards children with ADHD.The result showed that the social workers have adequate knowledge about the symptoms of the diagnosis,but they showed less knowledge about the social consequences an ADHD-diagnosis can lead to.There was some covariance between knowledge and attitudes, but not to a large extent.
