This bachelor thesis aims to examine the role of the lobbyist by focusing on the outcomes of two selected governments and their respective secretaries of state. Using a self-designed instrument of analysis based on a political science framework, the post-government careers of these secretaries of state are being examined to further evaluate potential connections to lobbyistic issues. The result shows a tendency for right-wing secretaries of state to more often go into jobs with lobbying-type qualities compared to their left-wing counterparts, and that the type of lobbying predominantly is of the outside variant. Furthermore, the study found that lobbying can be hard to properly identify and thus the demarcation for what constitutes, or does not constitute, as lobbying activity has been hard to apply. (Less)
