- Abstract
- This thesis tries to create a wider understanding for the complexity of friction in peacekeeping interventions. By connecting the concepts of friction and hybridity as well as the local and the international in a theoretical framework the thesis tries to concrete the complexity of peace processes. By applying the framework upon the UN peacekeeping mission MONUC in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the case in the empirical analysis the thesis illustrates how the reactions in the friction between the local and the international creates different types of hybrid results. The main purpose of the thesis is to develop theory for a greater understanding of the complex relations in peacekeeping efforts by the connecting of friction and... (More)
