- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- The most common reason for sick leave amongst academics in Sweden today is mental illness. With this in mind, the aim of this Master’s thesis was to investigate whether changes in work design led to self-ratxed changes in motivation, basic psychological need satisfaction and psychological well-being. Employees work design changed from working alone to virtual teamwork with Kanban as the method. Two studies were used to investigate the purpose. Hypothesis made, guided by Self-determination theory, were that the change in work design would positively affect the outcome measures. Both studies were carried out at the same workplace. Study 1 was a quasi-experimental design with dependent pre- and post-test with a control group and study 2 was a... (More)

Study 1 was a quasi-experimental design with dependent pre- and post-test with a control group and study 2 was a quasi-experimental design without pre-test with control group. Web surveys were used to collect data. In study 1, one interesting tendency was found, where the experiment group increased their self-rated level of competes. In study 2, two significant results were found, where the experiment group rated the basic psychological need for relatedness and psychological well-being better. This indicated that designing interventions, like Kanban, may promote psychological well-being. Due to methodological difficulties in this study we hope that future research may further investigate work designs promising qualities to improve employee’s well-being. (Less)
