Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The mesosiderites have puzzled researchers for over a hundred years, and many theories have come and gone. The main bones of contention have been: How did core and crust material mix without incorporating large amounts of mantle material? What kind of scenario explains a period of fast cooling, followed by extremely slow cooling? This work gathers and discusses the research on mesosiderites. A hand sample from Vaca Muerta was also analysed with a sweeping electron microscope (SEM), where the techniques of backscattered electron imaging (BSE) and energy dispersive spectrography (EDS) was used to identify minerals and chemical compositions, as well as textures. Several areas were chosen for closer study, among them, a gabbroic clast,... (More)

Several areas were chosen for closer study, among them, a gabbroic clast, reaction coronas around olivine, and what was interpreted as a melt texture. These were discussed in the context of previous works of the same phenomenons in mesosiderites. Some of these had previously been poorly documented, or lacked previous observations altogether. (Less)
