Mesosideriter — redogörelse av bildningsprocesser samt SEM-analys av Vaca Muertameteoriten

I över hundra år har mesosideriterna förbryllat forskare, och många teorier har kommit och gått. Huvudfrågorna har varit: Hur blandades kärn- och skorpmaterial utan att inkorporera stora mängder mantelmaterial? Vilket scenario förklarar en snabb avkylning, följt av en extremt långsam avkylning? I detta examensarbete samlar jag forskningen kring mesosideriterna och diskuterar de olika teorierna. En stuff från Vaca Muerta analyserades också med hjälp av svepelektronmikroskop (SEM). Teknikerna backscattered electron imaging (BSE) och energy dispersive spectrography (EDS) användes för att identifiera mineral och kemisk sammansättning, samt texturer. The main bones of contention have been: How did core and crust material mix without incorporating large amounts of mantle material? What kind of scenario explains a period of fast cooling, followed by extremely slow cooling? This work gathers and discusses the research on mesosiderites.
