Isherwood understads that the woman is caught under a patriarchal look, which she designate as the the male gaze. She describes that women, in the Christian tradition as well as in the in secular society, live with unattainable demands on their appearance. Moltmann-Wendel contributes with a theological argument about the embodiment and its validity within theology.

In the final discussion of the essay, are involving two feminist theorists: Judith Butler and Luce Irigaray. Together with them, the role of language for women's freedom is discussed and whether the question can be reversed. An important aspect addressed is the question of dualism. (Less)
