Abstract
The European Union is a union comprised of 28 European member states but its influence stretches past their traditional borders. Through its enlargement mechanism, the EU exports influence and social order to the candidate countries in the form of calls for reform which would bring them closer to the EU, structurally, economically and culturally, with the end goal being membership in the EU. Through the analysis of these documents, the relation between the two parties has been further clarified as mutually beneficial and progressing towards the end goal and the influence of external actors has been mapped in a manner of causality which is influential to EU actions taken in the past four years.
