Abstract
The aim of this thesis was to develop a general solution for a winder
application by examining the possibility to control the spreader axis
movement with an electronic cam. The electronic cam synchronizes the
spreader axis with the winder axis by determining where the spreader axis
should be positioned in relation to the winder axis position.
A prototype was built to recreate the application scenario in a testing
environment. The prototype consisted of two stepper motors and drives, a PLC
and HMI. An interactive visualisation was created that allowed the operator to
start and stop the application and also do a homing operation of the spreader
axis.
