Abstract (Swedish)
There have been many studies conducted on national innovation system in order to understand the important actors, the linkages among all actors and factors that either support or discourage the innovation in the country. It is crucial to gain correct understanding so proper policy can be designed and implemented to address the correct situation. Thailand has been trapped into middle-income country. Without any corrective action plans to increase research and development and innovation activities, Thailand will remain in economic slowdown situation and cannot compete against other countries. Therefore, new Science Technology & Innovation policies; based on innovation system theory, have been launched to improve the country’s technological advancement. Applying two-stage explanatory factor analysis on crosssectional Research & Development and Innovation Survey of 2017’s primary data, the findings have suggested that the new policies bring in improvements on Thailand’s existing innovation system situation. However, there are still problems that have not been addressed as well. In addition, it has been observed that innovative firms and non-innovative firms have some different characteristics. Thus, this thesis suggests that linkage among actors can be enhanced while integration between vertical and horizontal alignments has to be thoroughly monitored. (Less)
