Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The study’s purpose was to observe and describe how football coaches in a club in southern Skåne acted towards players in a girls team and a boys team. The study and the paper was designed according to this purpose. We used an open observation as design and an observing schedule as an instrument. The observation schedule was inspired by older, previous research (Young, 1980; Andreasson, 2007; Fundberg, 2003). The test group was the coaches for a football girls team and a football boys team in a medium-sized city in southern Skåne, where we did our observations at one game and two practices in the boys team and two practices in the girls team. The result was analysed through a thematic analysis. The result showed that the coaches didn’t use... (More)

The result was analysed through a thematic analysis. The result showed that the coaches didn’t use any women-degrading comments or encouraged hostile aggression. All though it’s important to note that the researches presence may have influenced the participants behavior. The coaches encouraged the players towards both collectivistic behaviour and physical improvement. The coaches also used admonitions to make the children stop with, what the coaches considered were, unwanted behaviour. (Less)
