Abstract
ASSA ABLOY is seeking a potential way of opening and closing automatic door to save the energy used by air infiltration. This thesis will provide ASSA ABLOY an intelligent swing door control system which aims to reduce more energy loss based on the consideration of human factors, product improvement cost.
Air leakage through the building envelope into the building interiors has a considerable impact on the energy loads and consequently energy demand and energy cost of buildings. This phenomenon known as infiltration happens through various openings and venues in the building envelope varying from large openings such as doors and windows to minute cracks and crevices. According to previous research on this, air infiltration and... (More)

According to previous research on this, air infiltration and uncontrolled airflow through the automatic entrance doors are significant factors of energy cost problems.
The previous research that ASSA ABLOY has done before is about the potential of automatic swing door in relation to cost and energy losses compared to manual doors. We want to find a way that auto door can save energy like manual door. However, the most important point for automatic swing door is convenient for passengers. In order to offer a good user experience, we need to do refined research to find out what is important for users to use doors conveniently and comfort- ably.
To find out what method is best for pedestrian, we did a lot research on how pedestrian interact with current auto door and manual door, then we investigate different ways of how can we prevent air infiltration through door opening based on a better and safer user experience (Less)
