Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
The aim of this study was to explore how hospital nurses experience that the conditions for collaboration with colleagues are affected by turnover. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six nurses working in a hospital setting. The collected material was analysed by using thematic analysis and three general themes were identified: Turnover as a resource, Turnover as a strain and The importantance of context. One of the experiences described by the nurses was that turnover can be perceived as a resource when new employees contribute with new expertise or new energy. The nurses also reported that turnover can be perceived as a strain. They associated this with the experience of being in a constant startup phase, which was described as being related to insufficient competence of new employees, ineffective work or insufficient communication or reliance. Turnover being perceived as a strain in relation to conditions for collaboration with colleagues was also described as being draining. The nurses associated this with an increased workload, increased responsibilities and it being emotionally exhausting. In addition, the nurses reported that the context of turnover can be of importance for how it affects conditions for collaboration with colleagues. (Less)
