- The main objective of this study is to illustrate the consequences of not converting Lundalänken

from the public opposition that this ongoing project has faced. The opponents are claiming that there

from the planned expansion of the area Brunnshög. By distributing the Brunnshög travelers on
differently combined traffic systems, with tramline not included in any of the systems, the
arrangements required equal the consequences the absence of the tramline entails. Through literature
studies and scenario planning, in which scenarios with experimental traffic systems are being
created, results show that it is possible to implement an extension in Brunnshög without a tramline,
on the obvious condition that other solutions are being adopted side by side. However, a fully
developed Brunnshög is not recommended because it increases the risk of a higher market share for
cars when the double articulated buses are reaching its maximum capacity. With (single) articulated
buses, only 39 % of Brunnshög is proposed to be exploited. Through the study it has become clear
that implementing capacity increase demands a review on the means of conveyances’ effects on
each other. Only then it is possible to replace the tramline on Lundalänken with other alternatives
and secure and maintain a well-functioning traffic flow within the whole system. (Less) - Popular Abstract (Swedish)
