environmental labeling, consumer behavior and lifetime labeling. People from government agencies,
organizations and industries were interviewed to get relevant opinions on the lifetimelabel. The
interviews and literature study showed that if the label should be as environmentally effective as
possible, the choosing of products it would be applied to is important. The study showed that such
products are suitcases and furniture because they aren’t using energy in the use phase and doesn’t have
to be replaced by more effective products. Even though if other products would be chosen to have the
label we would still utilize some environmental benefits from longer lasting products. The label should
be mandatory to maximize environmental benefit and to not create unfair competition between
companies that an optional label would. The conclusion of the study was that there is a demand for
longer lasting products and that the goal of the label is great, but a lifetimelabel isn’t the right
incentive. It has too many administrative problems. There have to be an agency that controls that the
label is right and also the usage of products can differ between costumers resulting in a not fair
assumption of lifetime for the product. (Less) - Popular Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
