Abstract
In this paper the normative argumentation against digital surveillance is the object for a critical review. The normative argumentation that has been the core of this paper have been reconstructed and assembled from several different sources. The common ground for the arguments has been the normative values: personal integrity, loss of democracy and social sorting.
These arguments have then been reviewed with a method that test the idea in three steps. The first is a test of logical consistent, the second is a test of empirical evidence and the third is normative equity.
The result of the review is that from a personal integrity perspective the argumentation is acceptable, with a lingering question of the extent of personal integrity... (More)

These arguments have then been reviewed with a method that test the idea in three steps. The first is a test of logical consistent, the second is a test of empirical evidence and the third is normative equity.
The result of the review is that from a personal integrity perspective the argumentation is acceptable, with a lingering question of the extent of personal integrity intrusions. From the loss of democracy value, the arguments lacked a steady construction for the arguments. The arguments about social sorting was well constructed. This sums up that the values of personal integrity and social sorting is acceptable arguments in the debate of digital surveillance, and that the arguments about loss of democracy needs a better foundation if they are to be accepted.
