Abstract
This Thesis aims at analysing the relationship between class and sex in relation to the Swedish parental leave and its discrepancies. Since 1974, Sweden has been a forerunner when it comes to having a generous parental leave system. Despite numerous reforms and many political debates since its establishment it is still to this day a hot topic. With this thesis the aim is to use a critical discourse analysis and a theoretical platform based on intersectionality to shine a light on the inequality that haunts Swedish parents, both at home and at work. The empirical foundation this this thesis uses comes from the Swedish political parties official statements and standpoints in regards to the mandatory parental leave quotas assigned to each parent.
