This was done by interviewing four experts in the field of demographic research in addition to doing a comparative idea analysis of two particularly opinionated texts from the public... (More)

This qualitative study aims to examine the potential future technological and economic effects regarding the care and providing for elderly people as well as the environmental effects of this continuing phenomenon. This was done by interviewing four experts in the field of demographic research in addition to doing a comparative idea analysis of two particularly opinionated texts from the public debate, to convey the broad array of perspectives on these subjects. According to the interview subjects and based on today, the difference in environmental impact of elderly people compared to other age groups will be negligible except possibly in particular circumstances. However, their statements also suggest that a source of additional productive labor will be needed to accommodate the financial and personal needs of elderly people in the future. (Less)
