- Abstract
- The present thesis is an investigation about the analysis and study of what is the best way to obtain greater savings of heat principally from the reuse of Drain Hot Water (DWH). The study is carried out through the hypothetical application of one of these heat reuse systems and the installation of renewable solar system to reduce the electricity consume in a single-family house of 300 m2 located in the Catalan city of Tarragona.

The study is carried out through the hypothetical application of one of these heat reuse systems and the installation of renewable solar system to reduce the electricity consume in a single-family house of 300 m2 located in the Catalan city of Tarragona.
The thesis can be divided into two parts although they are interrelated and form an iterative process: The first part of the thesis consist in literature studies which objective is to gather knowledge, and to gather information from existing systems.
The second part of this work consists of two sub sections. In the first sub section several heat recovery systems are analyzed and it is decided to opt for Passive shower because it has a low pay-pack, the product price is moderate and there is a lot of information about the system. In the second sub-section, four different scenarios are analyzed, which are explained in the objectives section. For the study of these scenarios, the Passive Shower recovery system and the renewable energy system with photovoltaic solar panels are used.
The results with the installation of the systems individually, show that the solar thermal system provides more energy, economic and environmental savings. Comparing the benefits obtained with the installation of the hybrid system, it is observed that, although the results are similar to those obtained with the installation of the solar system, the values are lower being the final economic benefit in year 10 of 2674, 2 for the solar system and 2095.05 for the hybrid system. The same goes for CO2 values. (Less)
