Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to compare the posture and operations of Russian nuclear submarines compared to their Soviet predecessors, in the context of nuclear weapons.
By conducting a case study comparing the Soviet and Russian nuclear doctrines and their application, limited to the submarine part of the Nuclear triad, and using the Organizational logics model as the method and Waltz’s 3rd image as a checksum, the study will attempt to identify similarities and differences between the two eras.
Based on the observed results the findings were tested against the hypothesis’ in order to verify its validity and the implication for the bigger picture.
The result of this study, confined to the realm of submarines as stated above, is that... (More)
The purpose of this paper is to compare the posture and operations of Russian nuclear submarines compared to their Soviet predecessors, in the context of nuclear weapons.
The result of this study, confined to the realm of submarines as stated above, is that the similarities are far greater than the differences, and thus it would be a stretch to claim that things are different now, and even more so to claim that we are approaching Kant’s proposed age of perpetual peace.
