- Abstract
- The aim of this study was to examine how school counselors work with honor-related problems among students. The study is based on five qualitative interviews with seven school counselors. The analysis was based on two theories: the theory of the world as a social construction, and the theory of intersection.The interviews were analysed with a thematic analysis method. The result show that honor-related problems were apparent through the concept of control and collectivity. The woman’s sexuality was mentioned as the reason for control. Working together with social services described as important, but some respondents are critical to the way social services handle cases involving honor-related problems. The respondents declare that honor-related problems could affect anybody, but the consequences can be different dependent of gender. Although all respondents state that they work no differently based on the students gender. (Less)
