I choose to work with a qualitative metod because I asks questions like how and why when working with the material.
Throughout this study I have worked with my thesis ”In Swedish regional museums, more emphasis is placed on the local visitor than the temporary, while the museums that are in touristoriented cities prioritize the international use of language more”.
How do they work with language? Is there a diffirence? I have found several differences in how the museums work with languges in their exhibits. In the swedish museums there is more emphasis on the local visitor as well as newcomers to the country, who are ajusting to the new culture through SFI groups. While the staff I interviewed in the museum in Rome has a differente aproach to languages in there exhibit. In Rome the turist are included through their usage of audio guides. They also have intent to use the english language in their exhibits to give the locals more opportunities to insert the language into their lives. There are many similarities between the institutions such as they think about how and why they use words and language in the exhibit texts. This to make the Museum as accessible for all its visitors as they can. (Less)
