In line with previous research on the subject the results of this study showed that the rehabilitation coordinator facilitated internal and external collaboration, which in turn enabled more effective handling of the sick leave process and rehabilitation efforts. It was apparent that the education programme strengthened the role of the rehabilitation coordinator which in turn benefitted both employees and patients. This study highlighted the importance of the engagement of the manager in the implementation process of this function and indicated the potential challenges involved. The role of the rehabilitation coordinator needs to be clearly defined, legitimised and evaluated to maintain the current positive development. This study implies that managers need to support the individual in question and encourage further teamwork when working with sick leave and rehabilitation in order to safeguard this new and highly valued resource. Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
